KIND bar product review

I found these all natural bars at whole foods the other day on sale for only .75 cents and figured I would give them a try. They came in many varieties. I decided to try the Almond Cashew + Omega-3; which contains all natural & gluten free ingredients such as dates, almonds, cashews, honey, and some added vitamins.

The Nutrition

This bar is packed with 4 grams of fiber, 4 grams of protein, and only 150 calories per bar. It also contains 14 grams of sugar. This may be higher in sugar than some people would like to consume in a health bar, but it's coming from the honey and the dates (which means no added sugar)! These bars also contain no salt (which means absolutely no sodium!!!!) and only 1 gram of saturated fat, which I find great!

The cons of this bar?
I wish it had a little more protein in it. Perhaps, the other flavors have some with higher protein.

How did it taste?

It was sweet, crunchy, and delish! There were huge pieces of almonds and cashews covered in sweet honey & dates glaze in every bite (it was super filling)!!! If you enjoy nuts, I would definitely recommend that you give these bars a try! I know I will be heading back to whole foods to pick up some of the other flavors =). Hope to see you there!

Star Scale
I give this bar 4 out of 5 stars

Overall Review

Farmer's market = Fun adventures

Today was a super fun day of traveling with the hubby. It's also the day that marks 100 days of being married, woop woop haha I know I am a nerd! He got off of work early, so we figured we would check out a few farmer's markets in our area. The first one we went to didn't have much of a selection, but the second had a bunch of organic produce to choose from. We also got to sample some yummy fresh fruit, such as a lychee....sooooo good!

The owner said they were super busy today so they were low on some produce, but I am surely going to go back and see what they have next time =).

What did we buy and how much did we spend you ask?

Organic Raspberries- $3.25

Sweet potatoes- .69 cents a lb

Idaho Baking potatoes- .69 cents a lb

Organic Onions- $2.50 lb

Organic Carrots- $1.50

Not too shabby, if I must say so myself =)!

Welcome!!!!

Welcome to my new blog called "Eating Clean & Saving Your Green". I am going to be discussing about eating clean and saving our 2 favorite greens, money and our planet of course =)! Most people think eating better means boring tasteless meals and lots of extra money being spent. However, I am destined to prove them wrong and I will be doing that by adding tasty clean recipes and money saving tips that won't put a hole in your wallet =)!!!

Why did I decide to start eating clean??
Since I got married, my husband Dan and I have been eating out a lot and I have been noticing that I have been feeling extra tired lately and just not myself! I have read that a lot of what you eat when your in your 20's,30's, and 40's determines your health and well being when your older. So, I've decided I want to become healthier now!!! Especially, since I don't work out, I need start getting my act together!

*Did you know that what you eat actually makes up 80% of what you look and feel like????

I am also trying to eat more organic foods, without all the hormones given to those poor animals! Cow's are suppose to eat grass and chickens are not suppose to eat other chickens....EWW! So the other day, I went to the Green Wise Publix and Whole Foods and stocked up on a bunch of their freshest foods in season; such as raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and grape tomatoes. I am also trying to eat more yogurt and granola (my new obsession)! Oh and another new obsession of mine.....all natural almond butter, wow it's AMAZING and I thought peanut butter was good!!!! I also bought plenty of fish (I tried to buy wild caught instead of farm raised so there are no hormones). Well I just started, but I have to say I already feel AMAZING!!!!!!! I usually eat all day long and am constantly hungry when I eat junk food, but not now! I actually have to force myself to eat more because I have been so full! Oh and one more thing, after I made myself a super healthy lunch yesterday, I was ready to do laps around our apartment complex. Of course it was 100 degrees outside, so I didn't think it was such a good idea haha =).
